Here's a little bit about myself

a small blurb

Hello! My name is Grace Palenapa, and I'm from Madison, AL. I'm currently a junior majoring in electrical engineering and minoring in computer science. I'm currently in the co-op program, so I've completed my first rotation this past summer. During the co-op, I worked with FPGAs (field-programmable gate arrays), which allow you to program different circuit routes on the same circuit board, so I was writing a lot of VHDL and C++ code.

Growing up down the road from Redstone Arsenal and the Space & Rocket Center was a major factor in wanting to become an engineer, but my mom was the one who inspired me to look into energy and the renewable industry. My family likes to travel, so I'm fortunate to see some state parks and have grown a deep apprcieation for nature. I want to study engineering in order to develop technologies to preserve the natural world. My ultimate goal is to work with solar power, whether it's doing research to improve the technology or just manufacturing it. However, I'm happy to keep learning and keep my options open to other fields of engineering.

Engineering can be extremely exhausting, so I've picked up some old hobbies to give myself a brain break. I enjoy cooking, especially asian-style cuisine. I also have herb plants to help with my cooking, like oregano, sage, basil and more. (My basil is getting eaten by some bug, so if someone has a friend in Horticulture to help me, please help me get advice.)

I am also part of the Auburn Wesley Foundation, which is one of Auburn's campus ministries. I ended up stumbling upon the Wesley Foundation my freshman year of college, trying to look for friends, and I fell in love with the community. Currently, I work on their leadership team as the Social Events Coordinator, which means I am in charge of organizing major Welsy events like formals, watch parties for Auburn sports, and other fun events.

The Wesley foundation is my main extracurricular focus, but I'm also part of the Auburn Club Swim Team (rush club swim). I swam competitively for about 11 years before college, but now I do mostly homework instead of 2 hour practices. I go to some of club swim's practices to destress and have some fun.

Now that I've introduced myself, let's get to building that AM radio!
